Being an American with no poppy culture, I was so confused by how LONG the poppies were worn and for what when I lived in the UK. It felt like it was perennially poppy time.

The poppies are sold to raise money for veterans and dependants through the British Legion. Usually starts 2 weeks prior to Remberance Sunday and up to 11th November, Armistice Day. It's not compulsory.

I always thought you wore a poppy after Halloween and up to Remembrance Day, and then left it at the cenotaph
