      1. So what the hell is going on? Trump refuses to concede election, is trying to undermine results with conspiracy theories and has purged the civilian leadership of Pentagon & replaced it with ultra-loyalists. How worried should we be?

      2. First of all, I don't think people should be shamed if they are worried. What Trump is doing is very unusual and troublesome. Ronald Brownstein is an eminently centrist liberal and even he's concerned.https://twitter.com/RonBrownstein/status/1326276263279882240 …

Is it alarmist to note Trump is installing loyalists at the Pentagon precisely as he muscles virtually the entire GOP into either embracing his unfounded claims of fraud or at least refusing to acknowledge Biden victory? Biden is casually dismissing it all as irrelevant? Is it? https://twitter.com/jaketapper/status/1326263424146399232 …

      3. No one should be complacent but it's important to take each Trump step and see what he could maximally achieve. The lawsuits are all jokes, are getting laughed out of court & aren't enough in any case to overturn Biden's substantial lead.

      4. Military is a bit of black box but the moment of crisis was during the Black Lives Matter protests when military leaders rejected Trumps call to use troops. Trump's civilian goons will help him cover-up stuff but officer class isn't going to intervene in election.

      5. Trump's moves are best seen as corrupt (using election fraud claim to raise funds, putting in loyalists to selectively declassify on Russiagate) but the actual mechanism of a coup aren't there yet. Trump is setting himself up to be GOP leader & run again.

          6. Again: no complacency. Keep vigilant & powder dry. Be prepared to take to mobilize mass protests if necessary. But also don't panic & focus on specific fights. More here:https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/trump-concede-defeat-coup/ …

Doesn't matter what halls he occupies. If Biden is certified winner by the states and electors, he'll be sworn in.

Yes this. Once he accepts (& maybe already has) that he's lost, the next step is to figure out how he survives massive debts being called in & many potential civil and criminal lawsuits. The answer is to go big, make himself the GOP's kingmaker, maybe end wars/burn the deep state

You think anyone in the GOP is going to risk calling him out for fear of him telling his people to stay home in GA? Nope. And almost certainly that's not enough to stay in office. But it's more than enough to keep himself too big to fail for years to come. Damage continues

Making it necessary to prosecute him this year, or else he will spend the next four years leading the GOP in undermining Biden at every turn. And by leading, I mean enabling them to do what they wanted anyway by giving populist cover.

My guess is he will say he will run in 2024, thus putting pressure on the Biden admin to not prosecute electoral rivals. It may fall to the states to do that.

He can grift off donations for the next four years whether he runs or not and feed his narcissism with rallies. He probably prefers this outcome of he isn't charged with crimes.

I don’t think there is a military coup but I do think they are trying to delay certifying electors to take it to SCOTUS and then House. I think pentagon changes are to allow insurrection act if protests occur

I also worry there is a dunning Kruger effect going on with many people not understanding how electors are certified, the scotus involvement if they are not certified by deadlines, and a house contingency vote, etc. I had to hit Wikipedia hard to understand for myself.
