This is a satisfying narrative, of course, but I actually think the left argument that the Dems are totally incompetent when it comes to beating the GOP but omnipotent when it comes to beating Bernie is incoherent.https://twitter.com/LukewSavage/status/1324034733425201158 …

Once more with feeling: Democratic elites expended more energy, conviction, and zeal to defeat Bernie Sanders, his movement, and Medicare For All than they did to defeat Donald Trump

Why? It's easier for a political party to rig things in internal elections than general ones.

remember 2016 Dem debates that were on days and times no one was watching? or weighting delegates in certain ways. its innocuous things like that a party can do in primaries that they cant do in the general.

Not rigging. Dem voters, by massive margins identified Biden as the candidate they most thought would beat Trump. And overwhelmingly said that was the number one factor in their vote. Those voters may well have been wrong. But party elites didn't make them believe that

Yes because party elites have no influence in media where voters gather information.

Except that primaries are run by state agencies, not be parties.

State parties aren't involved in the primary elections. County clerks run the primary elections; they print the ballots, collect the ballots, and tabulate the votes. You're thinking of *caucuses*... https://twitter.com/Marxagreer/status/1324041341182115842?s=20 …

Yes and yet I think it would be productive for the left to think about the reasons Bernie lost that were within our control. (As we often accuse the Dems of refusing to do when they lose)

What ads Dems ran against Bernie? All they did was some non-influential talking heads in non-watched TV and then a few phone calls after South Carolina. This required an operational preparation like Normandy Landings?
