So, if I'm reading this correctly, while being interviewed by @IChotiner, Noam Chomsky is, in another part of his mind, working on linguistic problems. That's as mind-boggling to me as, I dunno, someone juggling with 11 balls in the air.pic.twitter.com/21uaGjZdmG

He could divert some of that brain space and energy to not having doofy Chapoesque political opinions (although it's good he endorsed Biden this time around, so I'll refrain from too much criticism)

It's interesting to compare what Chomsky wrote about the Vietnam war with what neo-liberal apologist for American hegemony did in the 1960s. Now that we have archival sources, we know that we have archival sources, we know Chomsky was much, much closer to the truth.

But his Vietnam opinions (which I agree with) aren't in a vacuum. And to extrapolate Vietnam to every single American action since then (many of them being unjustified and deplorable, no doubt, but some, like Srebrenica, being totally justifiable) is ideological and offensive.

Sure, he's been wrong about stuff, as we all are. But his 1990s critique of military humanitarian was vindicated when Bush administration used cynical human rights arguments to justify catastrophic Iraq War. Neo-liberals have a lot to learn from his anti-imperialism.

It seems like your argument is "Chomsky's criticism of any interventionism whatsoever, good or bad, is vindicated by the bad interventionism". That doesn't seem reasonable. Most "neoliberals" I know of consider Bush 2's Iraq war to be deplorable and a/many war crime(s)...

Remind me again what stance Tony Blair and Hillary Clinton during the Iraq War?

Hoodwinked and dragged in by false/fabricated evidence/manipulation by a more powerful ally (specifically in Blair's case). That said, it's conceivable that intervention with a ruthless murderer/dictator like Saddam could be justified, just by a unified international front...

Not by a hegemon who manipulates others to engage and uses the situation to give no bid contracts to cronies' firms. That said, this all boils down to "neoliberalism is everything I don't like and the more I don't like it, the more neoliberalismer it is"
