3. Since he's now the status quo, economic populism has receded from Trump's messaging. It's still there in dribs and drabs but doesn't structure his argument as it did in the heady Steve Bannon days of 2016. Trump 2020 talks more about stock market than jobs.

Obama's 2012 message was "I know you may feel like change is happening slowly, but it IS happening because of me, and the other guy embodies the problem that got us into the mess in the first place." Hard to mimic this when the problem got this bad entirely under the incumbent.

I have also read, that he has sincerely become ideologically aligned with Republican party during his presidency, maybe through the constant interactions with people who are themselves very ideologically consistent.
