So I re-read Dune thinking I could write something about the new adaptation, which now won't be out for another year. Still worth it though! Dune is good, even more impressive than I remember it. At times clunky but with with a cumulative visionary grandeur.
I think that's true but there are many ways the book (and later sequels) invert Campbell.

Yes. Still, that whole Nietzschean /Jungian thing is there, and it's central. I think also that many readers miss the fact that Paul Atriedes is a *tragic* hero. He fails in so many, many ways.
