One thing that surprised me about the Sorkin Chicago 7 movie is that Abbie Hoffman came across as more sympathetic than Tom Hayden. I wasn't expecting that from Sorkin -- or is Hayden's anguish meant to be sympathetic rather than craven?

Yeah, Cohen's performance really makes Hoffman sympathetic -- and Hayden comes off as a colder and more calculating figure. On the other hand Hayden has an arc and Hoffman doesn't.
