One thing that surprised me about the Sorkin Chicago 7 movie is that Abbie Hoffman came across as more sympathetic than Tom Hayden. I wasn't expecting that from Sorkin -- or is Hayden's anguish meant to be sympathetic rather than craven?

Sorkin has said he talked to Hayden pretty extensively when developing this. That’s where he picked up the Hayden/Hoffman tension.
