Most Southern Dems were hostile to labor, back when they were a big chunk of the party. Conversely, Democrats still work with unions. Unions are weaker, for many reasons, but not mostly b/c of the DLC et al. Even in 1965 with huge majorities Democrats failed to fix Taft Hartley.

It's amazing how organized labor is electorally insignificant now with the sole exception of NV. VA and CO are now D base states with no real labor power. Astounding.
