Of the two my preference is for Burn After Reading because it locates the problem not in genetics but in the clashes between an ossified Nat Sec bureaucracy with a dispossessed WASP ruling class and clueless plebeian strivers. Which sounds right!

Yeah, people remember Idiocracy as a biting satire, but upon rewatching, it's a lot lazier. Some of its points about the American preference for spectacle over competence are valid, but literally the first part of the movie is, "All the worst people are having all the children."

As is consistent with CM Kornbluth’s Marching Morons, which I understand to be the movie’s inspiration. But I would agree though, that it weakens both works & is unnecessary to establish the premise of either.
