Curious to know how the 2nd half holds up. For me peak Schulz was 1970-1975, with a slow decline after which accelerated in 1979 or so (and I generally know the last 20 years in small batches).

My memory of them as I read them initially was that there’s a decline, but a pickup in the last years, especially as he gets more interested in Rerun’s perspective. And some of the linework from his latter days has a real distinct beauty of age to it.

"Peanuts" is best approached like the Dead, in that there will be years of inarguable excellence --though everyone will argue about which is the peak -- rough years with sporadic rallies and pockets of brief brilliance in even the worst years of decline.

I personally think even the later ‘worse’ years have some great strips. When you consider he drew every single strip himself there’s bound to be lulls. Schulz spent a lot of time in the 90s experimenting with the 3 panel format which often made them more interesting for me

          Close enough . . . for me, sustained peak was '60 - '80 . . .
