Wouldn’t that be part of the hearings?

If your objection is to the process, and then you start making the case against Barrett personally, you've lost the process argument. Also you may have noticed that Trump got Covid and the Republican Party is collapsing.
-
The process showed the usual mush of "60% want to wait until after the election, but if Trump nominates someone pre-election it's 48-45 in favor of confirmation", while "the GOP wants to take your health care in the courts b/c they can't do it at the ballot box" always wins.

I mean, isn't that what hearings are for?

Why would they want to distract anyone from the meltdown that's going on in the WH? There's still time, hearings next week and at least another week or two after that before the vote, but "shut up and let Trump implode by himself" has generally worked out very well for them.
-
Also, making a big deal about the nomination but then having it consigned to like page A17 between the story about Trump giving Chachi COVID and the story about Steven Miller wanting to eat immigrant pancreases to extend his life span just makes them look even more hopeless.

Never expect Dems to put up a fight. You will always be disappointed.

They should be SHOUTING how (1) it's not appropriate to even consider her; (2) she's a terrible justice on the merits; and (3) even if (1) and (2) were invalid, the cloud under which she'd be appointed is simply too much to bear. It's appalling how they're failing the country.

I feel like allowing the GOP to succeed in the most craven, most despicable way possible is the play
