      3. Of course, if there is a clearcut electoral college victory in 270+ states, the real nightmare scenario can be avoided. And that's quite possible. But if not this year then in the future there will be close national elections. In that eventuality, the nightmare would happen.

I don't think even a clearcut electoral victory will matter. They will cry fraud and go forward with their plan no matter what.

You can draw a straight line from Trump's continued downplaying of the pandemic through mail-in voting demographic split to election night ambiguity.

Why would you assume this? They'll still say there was massive fraud, they'll still litigate and obfuscate and delay, The only things to restrain them from running the exact same play with the legislatures would be honor or shame, and those ships have sailed.

What astounds me: the strongest vote for voter suppression on the entire Court is John Roberts. The 9th justice insurance is completely unnecessary. Plus the important rulings come after the election anyway, plenty of time to confirm in the lame duck. But that's not the plan.

I don't think so. The #OrangeCoup will likely involve - ironies of ironies - keeping the Electoral College from doing its job. A landslide victory for Biden only confirms, in Trump's mind, the overwhelming corruption in the voting and legitimizing his direct action to stop 1/2

... the Electoral College electing Biden based on 'fraudulent' votes & ballots. Under this approach the degree of loss doesn't matter. Indeed a blowout for Biden would, in the minds of the 40% cult, make the claim of corruption more believable. So chaos and violence is assured.
