      1. The anti-democratic mechanism in the American political system -- electoral college, senate, filibuster -- not only thwart popular will (as they were designed to) but do so in ways that are specifically bad for action on climate change.https://twitter.com/gtconway3d/status/1304463050959921154 …

Were it not for the Electoral College, many people would be paying a lot more attention to the wildfires ravaging the West Coast of the United States.

      2. To paraphrase @GreatDismal, climate change is here but it is unevenly distributed. The Democratic coastal states are seeing immediate problems, which inland GOP states won't confront for decades (mainly desertification).

Don’t forget huge, crop-destroying floods in the Midwest. They’re here.

This is largely incorrect; the US Northeast has had wonderfully benign weather for the past couple years. Mild winters, and this summer wasn't too hot. No wildfires, few floods. One hurricane but it was gone in a few hours.

The hydrological cycle in New England has intensified: more droughts and more floods. EEE seems to be on the upswing. This summer was very hot, which is not so benign for me. https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/monitoring-content/sotc/national/statewidetavgrank/statewidetavgrank-202006-202008.png …

If you presume for sake of this argument that climate impacts push political outcomes, such impacts flipping just FL, TX, maybe GA would reduce GOP to irrelevancy

You mean "Democratic coastal states" like N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Miss., Alabama, Louisiana and Texas. Those inland "safe zones" are seeing once in a lifetime tornados and are not safe from drought and fire.. Maybe this theory needs some reworking?
