          It’s a natural fact. If you want to see the effect of the virus you have to look at the deathrate, that is the relative, not the absolute numbers. That is the simplest way of assessing the damage done.

          Obviously population growth alone can't explain excess death because you have periods where death is suddenly much higher despite having the same population (i.e. compare 1856-1860 to 1861-1865)
