And almost-presidencies. And delusional, never-had-a-chance non-presidencies.

Yet LBJ was fulfilling JFK's vision as much as putting his stamp on it. LBJ drove it through but JFK had set the destination.

I will always shake my head at reporters who get so embedded that they think "political staffers chafed at stuff and powerful political partners sometimes butted heads privately" is news with one whit of value to the public at large.

I get the broad point but the Pod Save dudes have moved with the party and would probably love if, say, Biden got the public option Obama wasn't able to pass in the ACA.

Interesting to think about LBJ and elites. By my estimation, since 1900 there have been 4 US Presidential elections with no Ivy Leaguer on either ticket. Johnson in 1964 was the last. The others? 1908, 1924, 1928.

Can’t wait for the 2040 equivalent of Robert Caro to never finish their highly regarded best-selling 6 part biography series on the life of Joe Biden.
