I read his today's piece in the WSJ. You could not make more of a "tempest in a teacup". The issue was 0. No one did anything to him. People who live in enchanted world make big deal out of nothing.https://twitter.com/clairlemon/status/1288251443959328768 …

There's an interesting dynamic at work where the more pressing material problems -- covid, recession, climate -- are, the more intellectuals retreat into make-believe battles. I wonder if it's connected?

Perhaps they do not care. I thought his piece was pathetic. "Nothing happened to me, but some bad people were very unkind, they looked at me unpleasantly".

You better believe it. Intellectuals have privileged access to & compensation for the "General Intellect." Those privileges could be revoked at any time by the State or made non-exclusive in a post-capitalist society. Intellectuals feel they have "worked hard" 4 their privileges.

Not just intellectuals, everyone. The throttle cable of power has been severed, so we can’t effect real change on the world as the world effects extremely real change on us, so we score easy points, take wins where we can find them.

Yeah. Depressing isn't it? Of course those with more access to media have more chances to highlight their insignificance.
