That’s not what populism is. Populism is racist, nativist, protectionist fantasy politics. Stop trying to make it something it isn’t. Take some fucking responsiblity for spreading that evil.
If you are restricting "anti-populist" to only movements arising from Populist Party, then you shouldn't call contemporary movements populist. In this case, I "anti-populist" broadly means people skeptical of mass democracy & supportive of elite rule.

by that metric, Andrew Jackson (architect of the Trail of Tears) would be a populist. So would John C. Calhoun (the strongest defender of slavery)

Lol difficult to hear non AAs convo~ing over Jim Crow theoretically. . My father , grandfather , gr8 grandfather lived thru JC in Louisiana’s Delta . Jim Crow Laws were essentially set up by Dems to disenfranchise AA economic gains made during Reconstruction/after slavery
