Update on ALIENS (1986): I'm 1/3 of the way through it (I watch it in bits on stationary bike) and while of course it's a Good Movie, the people who suggest it's better than ALIEN (1979) are bananas. I'll except @anniekoyama just out of respect, although she... might be bananas 2
Most don't, I think, because the action is simply action: visual play but not viscerally tied to the narrative the way it is in Aliens or Terminator II. True immersiveness is rare.

I follow your point about the intrinsicness of the action in Aliens, but I'm making a less nuanced point: movies are better with great equipment, in ideal location, with the hush of the opening credits, as opposed to like, on the commode (or stationary bike)
