Jeet, we always knew deaths were going to rise again, because they're a lagging indicator. I don't understand why anyone other than head-in-the-sand MAGA chuds were optimistic about this.

This is a good thread for understanding why there is no reason for optimism, essentially increased testing created lead time bias.https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1280305393516904448.html …

Based on how I felt in February, this is good. Based on how I felt in June, this is not good. My view is that we went from unknown unknown territory where I was willing to do pretty much anything to known bad territory where public policy can actually make a utilitarian analysis.

https://twitter.com/covid19tracking/status/1281011411901177858?s=21 … Seems like deaths are already on the rise in the areas where cases are also rising

The continued decline in deaths over the past 2 weeks was a puzzle & a bright spot perhaps, but no source of hope. New cases are now in exponential growth again. Deaths will follow. There was never any doubt about it. Also no doubt US is headed for a reckoning. Trump is done.pic.twitter.com/L8eevDiVlg
