Are there any parallels from history or other countries to weird liberal nostalgia for Reagan and Bush?

What is your evidence for this "liberal nostalgia" and how widespread do you think it is? I haven't detected very much of this.

Polling shows George W. Bush's favorabilities way up, driving in large part by improvement among Democrats (imperfect a proxy for liberals). https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/22/politics/george-w-bush-favorable-poll/index.html …

43% of liberals in this poll had an favorable view of Bush vs. 48% who had an unfavorable view. I am not sure it makes sense to use these data to support a view that liberals are "nostalgic" for Bush.pic.twitter.com/KOt4f7b7af

Bush launched an unnecessary war that killed half a million people, ran anti-gay campaign, botched response to Katrina and presided over the biggest economic meltdown since the 1930s. 0% of liberals should view him favorable. That 43% do shows something wrong about liberals

I think you are misinterpreting favorability as a poll question vs job approval as president. (Not saying the answers are good, but don’t think that’s the same as Bush nostalgia)

Yeah, but there is no real measure for "nostalgia" so this is as close to a proxy as we have.

I just think it means they think he is a nice guy
