2. As a legacy of the Cold War, US presidents from Eisenhower to Trump have used “presidential emergency action documents" -- i.e. secret executive orders signed without oversight of congress or in public view. Some of them are very extreme and extra-constitutional.

3. We know that under Reagan, one “presidential emergency action document" created a protocol for setting up new USA government after nuclear attack -- with new president & no congress, in complete violation of constitution.

4. Cheney and Rumsfeld used script from Reagan-era emergency plans to guide them in early response to 9/11. Trump could well use them in response to covid & protests. All he would need is an attorney general willing to push the envelope (i.e. Barr).

For 3 years, Trump’s presidency (thou still horrible) was less destructive than I thought it would be. In the span of 6 months it is now even more destructive than I could’ve imagined on 11/9/2016.

Agree 100%. His overall ignorance and laziness prevented him from inflicting maximum damage. But now that same laziness and ignorance is catastrophic.
