Signing the letter doesn't mean affirming Rick MacArthur's stewardship of Harper's, which I'm on record as saying has been a disaster. The MacArthur family should let go of Harper's & it should be taken over by a better, non-union busting, non-profit.https://twitter.com/juliacarriew/status/1280561619496431616 …

Yet you have no problem putting your name next to hers on a letter that equates that criticism to angry mobs silencing free speech?

Well, SHE clearly sees herself as a victim, specifically because of the deserved criticism she's received. It's why she (and MANY) of the signatories signed the letter, right? She (/they) think they're being "silenced" because people "beneath them" are criticizing them.

Yes! Like you’re giving cover for people who do not engage in good faith

Why else does she sign this letter if not for those?

It seems weird to sign on to the letter and then point out people you don't think it applies to rather than not signing the letter and just pointing out cases where you think free speech is threatened.

Strawman alert. Rowling sees herself as a victim, that's the point.

Yes,
