1. With his speeches over the weekend, Trump is making it very clear he wants election to be about culture wars (he'll defend real Americans from Antifa statue-smashers, etc.). The problem for him is it makes him, uneasily, defender of status quo.

This is the reason a lot of "populists" were (often secretly) thrilled by Donald Trump in '16 -- because they were hoodwinked right along with MAGA by his "anti-establishment" nonsense. And they're still fooled: He's running on the same thing he ran on then.
