I had no idea Carl Reiner was on a path to being a sewing machine repairman until his brother told him about a free New Deal acting class. What a different country we could have if we wanted to spend our money on stuff like that instead of death machines. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/30/arts/television/carl-reiner-dead.html … pic.twitter.com/XyZf8YoOFz

The New Deal gave my grandparents a sanitary outhouse and my great-grandparents a pressure canner and jars. It also gave my farming great-grandparents a way to purchase land and pay after harvest each year, and 5 generations have called it home. #investInPeople

Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans, Pollock, Krasner, Gorky, de Kooning, Louise Nevelson. Aaron Douglas, etc. A very long list of photographers, artists, painters, sculptorsr…not to mention all the writers…were sustained by New Deal arts programs.

This is wonderful to know. Imagine if his talents were never shown to us, it’d be a less happy life.

This alone, should be enough justification to fund the arts in schools around the world.
