The New Deal gave my grandparents a sanitary outhouse and my great-grandparents a pressure canner and jars. It also gave my farming great-grandparents a way to purchase land and pay after harvest each year, and 5 generations have called it home.

Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans, Pollock, Krasner, Gorky, de Kooning, Louise Nevelson. Aaron Douglas, etc. A very long list of photographers, artists, painters, sculptorsr…not to mention all the writers…were sustained by New Deal arts programs.
