It's not about my newspaper's ability to get sources, it's about integrity. There are reasons to burn sources and break agreements, but 'now it's news' is not one of them.

Also, the hypothetical that it's "the only way" is not something I've ever come upon. I've investigated around the problem of not revealing a source tons of times.
