2. There's a bunch of reasons why Lee is underrated -- he's prolific (more than 50 plus features & documentaries) & the work is wildly uneven, all the more so since he jumps from genre to genre. But also, it often feels, because people don't want to think about what he confronts

Years ago I showed the film to my Composition II students; most loved it as much as I did at their age.
