The Soviet Union has been dead for nearly 30 years now. Yet it still haunts the imagination of many Americans, both liberal & conservative. That's strange.

Talk to some people who have left. The lady who cuts my hair says Putin took her house. The apartment manager nearby has to repaint all the units because Russians can't stand the "Gulag" grey. Their reports are not on social media.
