The Soviet Union has been dead for nearly 30 years now. Yet it still haunts the imagination of many Americans, both liberal & conservative. That's strange.

Damn, man, that nostalgia for Soviet Communism was already there in 1995 when I was on exchange in northern Russia for 5 months. The crony capitalism of the “New Russians” wasn’t a great alternative to their former economic system, at least.
