This makes little sense except as an expression of your apparently deeply-held credentialism. There's a long honorable history, which I'm sure you know, of pseudonymous polemics.

no it has nothing to do with credentialism at all. again, attributing a view i dont hold. i dont care about your credentials or lack thereof. it has to do with actually being responsible for what you say and do. and sure, but dont you think thats a little pretentious to invoke?

Again, my TL is there, and searchable. I will answer any criticism you have. I'm sorry that I don't want to put my job on the line. Your thirst for that vulnerability is noted.

thats a deeply unfair and venomous comment, which is pretty much what you do now. i just have way more respect for the integrity of people who stand by their words in some way

Again, you're no one to call anyone venomous given the insults you've tossed at me here and before. I don't share your difficulty engaging with words unbacked by name, rank and serial number so the demand is truly perplexing. You can't seem to defend it except by repetition.

right, so when you imply that im out to harm others careers or stuff like that thats much higher stakes because its my reputation being maligned. you dont stake that at all

I withdraw & apologize for my crack about thirst for vulnerability. I believe you have no such motive. But you are de facto demanding that I make myself vulnerable to firing in order to express myself freely on Twitter, and be taken seriously. This is an inconsiderate demand

But a moment ago you conceded there was an honorable tradition of pseudonymous polemic. (Your objection became that I'm not the equal of James Madison or so. That's true! And irrelevant. Many forgotten pseudonymous polemicists had honor, in my view, and I would think in yours.)

there are obviously conditions where being pseudonymous is necessary and an important part of public debate, but it can also just be a license to be irresponsible. so i guess its just a matter of judgment which is applicable in this case

Exactly so. The literary underground of pre-revolutionary France included pseudonymous social critics of great distinction and also trollish clowns obsessing over gossip. We can make up our minds about which category any one pseud is closer to.

Right, it is your prerogative to underestimate and condescend to me. I hope you'll both continue! Online and off I've only ever benefited from men who do.

Do you think its really fair to go there since you started this whole confrontation off on the foot of ridicule?
