Yes, everyone agrees with you on that. It's an unremarkable thing to say, a cheap point.
I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't agree on that and there are people obsessed with a largely fictitious cancel culture who ignore real problems.
wouldn't this logic (there's more important things to worry about) also apply to the writers doing the canceling?
Yeah, I think the people who obsess over speech acts & try to regulate speech are wasting their time and indulging in, at best, masturbatory politics.
It's real the same way we really can turn lead into gold: it's extremely inefficient, ineffective and it never happens at a scale to be useful, but sure, it's possible. And it would probably be nice if it worked better.

Cops do not kill hundreds of unarmed civilians. Not remotely close. How about the 92 LEOs who died in service in the last five months? Any concern about them & their families, or nah?
“Cancel culture” isn’t just people losing their jobs, even if that’s 95% of the conversation. It’s more about larger value shifts, systemic issues, chilling effects. The problems you cite are more object level (and firings are but one object-level manifestation of cancel culture)
