The reporting in this story about Shor is important and what happened to him is a travesty. Almost all narratives about PC are hysterical centrist bed-wetting, but in this case there is a genuine wrong.https://twitter.com/jonathanchait/status/1271076001615929346 …

Is it? Or is it just that "I feel unsafe," has proven to be an effective way to drive outcomes in a variety of environments. Seems like its origin is students on college campuses which is very much not a workers/boss context.

I’m a white dude in late middle-age who works in middle-management at a publicly traded company. I also like to mouth off on the Internet in my spare time. Some of these "intellectual disputes" *have to* become HR matters. The borderlands are still being mapped.

James Damore frex is an easy case. It would have been bad management to let him perpetuate an "intellectual debate" about the technical capabilities of women and BIPOC *in corporate communication channels*. At the other end of the range you have the Shor case.
