RE grief,they belong in the same breath.He is not equating them on every level. They do & did understand sorrow on a rare level. Both took it &turned it into empathy.Both became better men. Bobby especially turned to a new path. Miss him still ....

So much this. It's one of the reasons perhaps that he has a high level of trust--higher than conventional wisdom expected. We trust people who have felt grief because we believe they understand.
