Thinking more on @benyt article & pushing it further, I think there ideological fragmentation in USA has changed rules both in the newsroom & op-ed page but in different ways that caused a collision: the news room push to call racism by its name & op-ed push to treat it as idea

It’s a good read. I recognize the focus was different than this, but I would have liked to hear more about the unions. So many media outlets have organized in recent years - has that encouraged more assertiveness at other places?
