That's true but the era of Josephine Baker and Richard Wright was a long time ago. I'm not sure Wright would say that today if he were around.

that's correct. unscientifically, i'd say it's easier to be a minority and thrive (as an individual) in the u.s. you can reach higher levels of success. there are no european obamas. but the low level of degradation never gets as bad in western europe.
