The problem with calls for de-escalation is that there is a leadership vacuum at the top. The fact that Trump is a buffoon who is toxic to 55% of the country makes it impossible for him to call for calm.

Seems like the police are the ones escalating in every hot spot, rolling in with riot gear and firing riot weapons unprovoked, and now this.

Even in "liberal" cities, police forces are rife with neo Nazis. Nothing can deescalate when we're empowering that kind of person with authority, immunity, and lethal weapons.
