You realize there is a difference between a volunteer army and one where everyone is forced to join (though the rich, like Trump, somehow manage to get out?)

Economics is its own sort of draft. The military, my understanding is, is even more disproportionately staffed with POC than in 1960s. And the trauma and death of soldiers in a volunteer army is also regrettable.

Oh my goodness, no. I turned 18 in '74. The draft was THE KEY issue with respect to Nam. If you didn't report for duty after receiving your letter, you were arrested—or you went underground or to Canada, or had a way to get into the Nat'l Guard. It was a massive concern.
