LBJ wKennedy was the last VP 2bring a state decisively. Nationalized elections w so much information makes picking a VP for a state obsolete. none of these guys brought a state on their own: Pence, Biden, Cheney, Gore, GHW bush, Mondale. Ticket balancing wins!
