How come there's no push to release the Scorsese Cut of Gangs of New York?

Several reasons: 1) Scorsese doesn’t want it to happen; doesn’t believe in director’s cuts; 2) materials are probably a mess; there may not even be a work print of the movie he envisioned; 3) rights nightmare; 4) didn’t anyone tell you? Scorsese may be at least semi-cancelled

To clarify, because people: I do not think Scorsese is cancelled. Nor do I wish him so. I was, like Dinsdale Piranha, using sarcasm. I have, rather, written a whole book that I encourage all to pre-order, full of justified praise of him and one of his gangster movies

Hmm. Based on the reaction to The Irishman I'd say Scorsese is far from cancelled. He was pretty universally treated as a living master. But I look forward to your book on Goodfellas!

Thanks! I thought of you while working on it; while I don’t have whole chapters on “Casinò” and “Wolf” your suggestion was useful and they are considered with some thoroughness.

Ah good! Have your publisher send me an ARC. I might be able to write about it.
