I honestly don’t understand the debate here. Is it “is representational art ART? Y/N?” What is even the heart of this conversation? Please cite your sources.https://twitter.com/snubpollard/status/1263207251013242891 …

The conversation got steered towards a qualitive/adverserial zone from first comment, but that's just a misunderstanding of a pretty simple comparison of comics pre and post Caniff. Comics in Kunzles book vs comics post Caniff are, inarguably I think, radically different.

The “winning” conversation still throws me, but isn’t the essence of the debate just whether or not some later cartoonists are Team Caniff or Team Herriman (in form and/or function)? Are you headed that way in your continuation or will you explore the openness itself explicitly?

I'm pretty much ok with any debate about comics that goes 'Feininger!' even if I don't quite understand the stakes.

Does this settle it. The main thing is: Caniff suffered for his art? Have I solved the riddle?https://twitter.com/ComicsintheGA/status/1264028006013718528 …

I don’t know what I got tagged into but it’s really weird that it was literally two minutes after I tagged
@heerjeet on a Milton Caniff post of mine for the first time ever... - Show replies
