Simply as a political strategy, Obamagate seems misconceived. Obama is broadly popular and given what's happening in the world (pandemic, economic meltdown) seems unlikely anyone will care about this micro-scandal.

The base who are motivated by “Obamagate” were always motivated to vote. They were never going to sit out the election. He’s throwing red meat to a frenzied pack of hyenas.

He doesn't seem to be courting the swing vote at all.
