      1. Can Biden unify the two big ideological wings of the Democratic Party, the centrists and the left? One positive sign is the Unity Task Forces, which includes AOC, Jayapal, Parkash, Kelton, etc.https://twitter.com/jeneps/status/1260520449198489600 …

      2. Biden ran a non-ideological primary campaign emphasizing his connections to Barack Obama and the need to beat Trump. For that reason and his long history of being a chameleon, changing with the times, it's unusually difficult to know how he'll govern.

      3. Biden gives every sign of wanting to run and govern as a "big tent" democrat. The people he's surrounded with range from the excellent (his longtime economic advisor Jared Bernstein) to ... Larry Summers.

You can’t have a big tent when you constantly tell activists to not vote for you for asking basic questions

If you don’t like Obama’s deportation record, you’re not welcome in the tent, if you don’t like the idea of drowning in boiling seawater, not welcome, believe women, not welcome

Remember how he dragged Obama into publicly supporting gay marriage. Good times.

I respectfully suggest that a review of Summers's writings and policy recommendations over the past eight years would alter your evaluation of him.

Actually FDR used a similar little-l liberal approach. He liked having a diverse set of voices at the table which included laissez-faire purists (e.g. first-budget direct Lewis Douglas) as well as the New Deal brain trust

The r/mildtake is Biden will do what's popular and it seems like a lot of progressive priorities have become popular while in opposition. Will he fight when the right fully mobilizes to stop everything? Will he use all levers of exec? Will he push to get rid of filibuster?

Could he be the Joe Biden who came out in full support of marriage equality before Obama? I think you see all the candidates in the primaries have followings. A convention, virtual or otherwise showcasing the deep bench of rising stars, with him at the top, might be persuasive.
