Quite. And this became very clear all those years ago with Obamacare. Even with it being a Heritage-derived Romney xerox, the squealing and fudging from those on Team Democrat who were just as heavily bribed by the healthcare lobby vultures was nearly as bad as that from the GOP.

And the SS surplus is supposed to be deleted around 2033, forcing payments to 75% of their current level. There is more political will among Dems to oppose UHC and a massive New Green New jobs program than there is to fix and strengthen SS. Even Obama proposed cutting SS. Sad.

Most future retirees will see larger real benefits from SSI than today’s retirees. The 75% reduction is relative to scheduled benefits, which are generally scheduled to rise by more than 75% by then, so net effect is still gain from today’s benefit.
