Genuine question: isn't it a bit too late for that in America?

Nationwide maybe, but not in New York or Louisiana.

way too late. Maybe if we had a harder lockdown for a month and a half. But Trump fiddled away February, March, and April. And now we're fucked.

Nope. The nice thing about exponents is how fast they are. It's never too late. Any doubling of cases just linearly increases how long it would take to get it under control.

Trump just wants the #cases/day to be less than the number of hospital beds available. If we want a better outcome than that, be prepared to continue staying at home and demand everyone wear masks in indoor public spaces. Boycott businesses that don’t require masks

Everyone wears masks, R<1. Is it too late to convince everyone to? Maybe.

There are certainly places like Germany and even Italy that got hit really hard but got their cases down drastically from the peak.

It became too late for America on January 20, 2017. Because Trump is untroubled by the death count, he doesn't get that that a couple-hundred thousand people dead is a major drag on the economy. Too bad, otherwise he might almost care about the loss of life.

Yeah, I know. There are persistent pockets that Canada is having a hard time containing (chiefly senior homes & meat packing plants).
