Considering those two companies alone have over 50% of the market share in digital advertising, I'd be happy to start with them and go from there.

And do you imagine that they would share revenue only with news companies, or with any site whose content they link to? If only the former, who decides what a news company is?

(I agree they should be regulated btw, but not in this regard. We already saw what happens when news orgs' business model is built on trying to get as much social media traffic as possible. It's disastrous.)
