Looks like even the countries that are dealing with pandemic best will face a prolonged demand collapse -- that's going to be a problem going forward (China seems to have the same issues).https://twitter.com/adam_tooze/status/1255255471369392128 …

after missing work for a few months, with small checks to tide folks over, most people won't be spending anytime soon.

The lockdown obviously killed demand for countless things. What will that look like, e.g., in the country you live in? Where we shut things down for, basically, a really bad flu season? it is going to be a nightmare for many. You seemingly aren't troubled by that.

Folks are underestimating the devastating knock-on effects of this pandemic on the global economy. Now add climate change & increasing famine (in the developing world) to the mix. Without global leadership, we face a harsh decade ahead.

I’ve seen estimates that 75% of the drop off in economic activity from the lock down would have occurred without a lockdown. The reason? A large majority of people don’t want to eat out, shop, go to crowded theaters or other events during a deadly epidemic.
