Not without altering the constitution. Election date is explicitly specified.

Which is odd, given how Trump is known for his foresight and strategic cunning and numbers literacy

I just don’t get why he thinks it’s the economy and not dead bodies that will effect his chances of re-election

I don't think the math works on that. Infections take days, not months and we've already seen the timing on going from zero to 55k- 2-3 months. If anything it would make things worse because the second shut down will be even worse.

One things for sure, no matter which way this goes it will be either good or bad for Trump.

*dons tin foil hat* Gives him an incentive to create a second wave of infections in time for the general election.

Would tend to think COVID suppresses urban vote (D) in swing states. Detroit, Philly, Milwaukee and Cleveland. Trump Opposes mail in voting and presses for social distancing at polls. Good combo for him regardless of deaths

That would make sense if the first wave was anywhere near over. I think it's going to be one big, non stop wave until a vaccine is created and even then it's going to be around due to anti-vaxxers.
