I often think about how Philip Roth wrote an alternative history novel where his older brother was a Lindbergh supporter. I wouldn't like it if my brother did that to me.

The companion podcast with interviews of David Simon took it to another level. Really interesting back stories and Simon’s discussion of meeting with Roth about the project before he died.

The series was great. And your excellent article has a spot on conclusion.

Watched it from start to finish yesterday. Really good and really scary in the age of Trump.

The series in general didn’t get great reviews but I found it outstanding. I agree with you tha the book had a far more optimistic ending than the series. You make some excellent points on that.

Turturro stole the show. I think they Herman Levin character was more militant and working class than the “resistance liberals.”

Agree. The characters/dialogue are a little wooden (I almost gave up on it for this reason) but better than in the novel, and the performances, esp Winona Ryder and John Turturro, are great. As in the novel, the counter-history is done with great subtlety and plausibility.

I thought Zoe Kazan's telephone scenes in the finale were impressive.
