Can "return to normality" win an election? Yes, absolutely. Can it govern and build a lasting coalition? I have my doubts simply because I don't think its goal of normality is realistic.

He can shore up the weakness with minorities easily enough with the right messaging and VP pick and some strategic deployment of Obama as a surrogate. So while it's early, he's in a good spot. Eating into the normal GOP advantage with older voters could be lethal to Trump.
