I took it to mean 2-4% of total deaths meaning 2-4% of 30,000+ deaths (currently).

Yup. And the study argued whether those 1000 deaths would be worth the negative effects of not having the school structure in place (e.g. lunch programs).

Ok, but there is a gross misunderstanding with people thinking anyone is advocating for 2-3% of child students dying. No one is arguing for that.

I'm still hung up on his use of the word "appetizing" - WTF is that?

It doesn’t mean several thousand excess deaths - it likely means between 6-900 excess deaths. And he’s not talking about no other mitigation - the whole point is he’s talking about re-opening schools while keeping other social-distancing protocols in place.
-
The Lancet study says no other mitigation in calculating those figures.Point is Dr. Oz misunderstood that. Also with 60,000 total deaths, 2-4% gets you 1200-2400. And 60,000 will be an undercount.

I would let my child miss one year of schooling rather than put his life and many more at risk. You m0ronx.
